I am so excited to finally announce my brand new blog! I have been working on it so hard, and I love how it turned out. I kept trying to make this site work but was never really thrilled with the look of it...so I just made a new one somewhere else! Christmas is coming.

So, are you almost ready for Christmas???
I haven't bought a single gift yet this year (we are planning on doing that this evening). The strangest part...I am not stressing about it. I've been thinking so much this year about Christmas and all the traditions that go into it. For me, it's lost it's focus. It's become so much about "I need to get one more gift", or "when will I have time to get this gift", or "we don't have the money to be spending presents this year". Seriously folks. That shouldn't be what is in my mind this year. So a couple of weeks ago I stopped it. I've really just swept it aside and decided that it's not important. I wanted to share this video that has completely changed my thoughts on the matter. For me, it's always been more important to go to Church and celebrate the Lord, and just spend time with family, but this video made an impact on me for future years.

It's not only because things are tight for us (hey, we are just starting!) It is that this time becomes so stressful. So what can be done to change it?
Our solution:
Next year we won't be participating in gift exchanges. Not only do we not really have the money to buy a gift for the person we drew, in the big scheme of things, is that what really matters? We want to make the season for us to be completely about the Lord, love, family & friends. In place of one of our gift exchanges next year we will be having a big dinner (like Thanksgiving, but not present stress). Any money that we feel we can give will be going to a Charity - let's face it, they need it so much more than we do. Maybe we will even make some gifts, aren't those the best anyway!
Of course this won't be the case every year, but for next year, it's our plan. I know when we have kids (a long time from now!) things will be different.

This post wasn't to bring anyone down, or make people mad. Everyone has their own opinion on the matter (so please, no mean comments). I do think that giving gifts is a great way to show people you love them - however, when you don't really have the means to give them, why put so much stress on yourselves. Isn't the holidays really just about loving each other & celebrating our Lord.

So Merry Christmas. I hope it's a great one for you this year!

I *love* when a family "gets" it. When they get that it is so worth the time to take an hour or two and take photographs of your family - everyone changes so fast, why regret that you didn't do it sooner?! Diane "gets" it. After we photographed Ellie's senior pictures she started organizing a shoot for all her children. They are all in different places & so busy. The oldest lives out of state, one just spent a semester in Italy, and so on - they are busy! That didn't stop her though, she made it work.
The shoot was a blast - obviously, look at who I got to photograph. Beautiful & so stylish, I can't complain. I will however mention that it was freezing that day, the wind was awful - but fun never-the-less.
Have a great weekend! Christmas is just around the corner! - I guess I should start my shopping :)

Yep, it was my turn in front of the camera. Every time I need a photo for something I have to dig through snapshots from over a year ago (I just don't get in front of the camera). So on Saturday when we were out photographing our new place, Justin decided that it was my turn to get a few headshots to use on the blog & other things.
So here is a sampling...I've got tons, but not tons of time to edit photos of myself...so these will have to do :)I really just love the snow coming down in this shot:

Saturday was bliss. Absolutely wonderful. I am sure you have caught on to how much we love our new home...it's perfect. We had our first snowfall here on "pine ridge" and we decided to go out and have a photo shoot or two...I wanted to have some photos our our place to share here on the blog, and I was desperately needing some updated headshots - so yes, it was my turn in front of the camera...yieks!
I thought today I would share our home, and tomorrow I'll give you a little peak at MY photoshoot...of course I had to put Justin in front of the camera too - so check back tomorrow for that...but for now....

gift idea - my first one!

Last year I posted a few random things that might make good gifts...so for a lack of an idea of what to post today, I thought I would post a cute little item.
I know records aren't that popular, but we always had fun playing with dad's old records when we were little - so they aren't quite so foreign to us.
I just thought this was worth a post, I don't know how well it works, but the idea is cute. (I can't imagine would be that powerful, but oh well).

I'm back! So sorry for the lack of blog posts recently, but as most of you know...we moved! We are finally officially out of one house and into another and we absolutely love it! The house is so great, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! Right now, as I type, I am looking out my window at a h-u-g-e pine tree, a stone bridge and it's snowing...seriously, it's stunning! I promise to post photos soon, but there is still a little unpacking to do!

Now, back to the point of the post! I wanted to share a few more images of some of the cutest kids I have ever photographed! I had a little photo shoot in Indiana a couple weeks ago to get images for this family's Christmas card. It was quick, but we got so many great shots! Here area few of my favorites!
As for Christmas Cards, we have done quite a few around here at CDP this year, I promise to post photos of them after the Holidays.

Always moving on...

Because of our constant need for excitement, a bit of a.d.d...or always needing something big going on, Justin & I are moving again! Yep, I know, we are crazy.
The fact of the matter is that the Farmhouse is a bit too big for just two people and it's going to be pretty hard to heat this winter (we spend our evenings now with hats & scarves on... and sometimes gloves, seriously.)
It just so happens that when it comes to living arrangements, we get the good end of the scale...we have been very blessed.
When I was on a photo shoot one day, I looked up and on a little cliff set the most beautiful little cottage. “That’s my dream house” - yep, that’s what I said. Well, you guessed it...that’s where we are moving. Just two days after we decided we wanted to move soon, this all fell into place – very cool!
Some good friends own the house and they are doing some major work on it before we move in, and we are so excited! Even better, I will have a Bainbridge address again, just as God intended ;)
We are actually going to begin a bit of the moving this week, but plan to do the majority over Thanksgiving. Prepare for many blog posts about the area! You might have thought I had some neat pictures from where we are now – it doesn’t even compare! Really, it is absolutely stunning there - a small, secluded paradise.

*Oh, also, because amazing homes or vacation places always have names, we decided the cottage needed a name (because it’s like a mountain vacation – you’ve got to see the views), hence “the cottage at pine ridge”.

His mom Patti is actually the owner of the beautiful Sunroom @ the Brick in Frankfort, so of course that is where we decided to do the shoot. Indiana

This weekend Justin & went over to Indiana to see where Chelsea & Matt (my sister) have made their new home. While I did spend most of my time there coming up with reasons why they should move back, we did have a great time...and yes, I will say it...it's a very nice place.
I thought I would show you a few photos from our trip!

It was so cold we went to H&M and Matt, Chelsea & Justin all bought hats before we walked around the city a bit. (this was in Indy)The next two are to show how amazing my husband is, and how photographer's husband never gets to quit. I was doing a mini photo shoot for Christmas cards and Cooper wanted to be in the photos...so we put Justin to work...he's so great!We had a great weekend and can't wait for our next trip!

...although I still think you should move back ;)

09 Senior: Ellie

Wow! Really, I can't even describe how much fun I had on this photo shoot! Ellie is phenomenal - smart, stunning, stylish & sweet - I couldn't have asked for any more! I was so happy that we could work out a date to do her senior pictures - Ellie is a really busy girl, and actually lives in Mansfield, Ohio (good 2 hours away). She is the granddaughter of our wonderful friends, Beth & Rosco (we house sat for them over the summer), and I was so excited when I found out that she wanted to do her photos at the house since she had so many memories there!
I have gone a bit over board once again...but I can't help it - I had too many favorites, so you will just have to bear with me on the long post!

You know it's going to be a good shoot when there are shoes like these are involved! Simply Gorgeous:

There is more to it than running a red light & speeding...trust me, I received my little (crazy amount) ticket in the mail.

Now I realize that this isn't the type of things I like to post, and I promise this blog wont become so political/issue-like, however I am biased about this issue, and frankly I think $95 is a bit high for making a very, very slow right turn on a red light into Lowes.

What a great time! I was told before the shoot that Zach wasn't really into getting his photos done (it was a 'for mom' thing), but I don't believe it. He was great and I loved the images we got (and I am pretty sure he had a good time ;)
Zach's girlfriend Rachel was also there (which I loved, you wouldn't believe the smiles she could get out of him! it was great). I grabbed this shot while Zach was changing his shirt...isn't she gorgeous!Future seniors - if you want to bring your boyfriend/girlfriend along...it's ok, really, I don't mind! I read a lot of blogs. Really, a lot. I always love when people post images of where & how they live. It is so great to see what makes people happy and what they like to have around day to day. I thought I would give you just a little glimpse of where I spend my day (when I am not photographing). This is my workspace and little details that help me get through the day, like my favorite flowers, clipboard schedule, brand new comfy office chair, my mac workhorse (I don't know how I worked without it!), and a couple flea market finds.

I have been waiting for this particular shoot for a very long time! If you follow this blog at all, you know or have caught on to the fact that I have the most supportive family ever! Hence, all my amazing cousins that have chosen me to photograph their senior pictures.
This family is more than just my aunt, uncle & cousins. They are closer than those titles. Growing up everyone thought that Lindsay (the oldest) was our sister...we were always together. They took me on one of my favorite vacations ever with them - Maine, I love Maine. They just live right across the road and always have sugar or potatoes or whatever we are out of, and they don't mind sharing.
I love this family so, so much.
And, I love these photos.

The best part is that we aren't done. We are having another session this winter! I *love* winter sessions!

They don't come much sweeter than Katie. Really, as I was editing their photos I just kept smiling because I could hear her adorable laugh! Katie has the absolute cutest smile - and it's always on her face. Brandon was more of the quite type, but the looks he gave Katie...you instantly knew that they are in love, and boy, he could make her smile. Thank you to Katie & Brandon, it was such a fun shoot and your property couldn't be prettier. I can't wait for the wedding next year!

I *love* photographing this family. I mean it...I love it! Not just for the obvious reasons, you know - because they are ridiculously gorgeous, they love having photo shoots (we average 2 a year), or that Sophie really couldn't get much cuter. It's because I get to see this amazing life and love that my very first friend (other than my sisters) has found. Hayley and I met in the basement of Bainbridge United Methodist Church...we were probably around 4. She has been my friend since that day.
It is so amazing for me to watch her and her beautiful family interact together...they are so great. I am blessed to call them friends, even more, I consider them family.
To Richard, Hayley & Sophie - Thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing me to document your family...it is an honor. I am so blessed that I have photographed Sophie since she was born and I am eternally grateful for that.

If you know me at all, or follow my blog you probably now this one thing about me....I love to photograph kids! Really, I can't get enough of it. So for me, what's even better than photographing kids? Photographing them regularly! I love watching them grow up and they really get used to me and we have such a great time. This was my second time to photograph beautiful Annie. She is the cousin of Sophie...the kid most photographed by Cassidy Dawn :)
We had a shoot with the the family a little while back and I thought I would split them up in two posts.

Fall Festival of Leaves - Bainbridge, Ohio

So sorry for the lack of posting, I have been running around photographing amazing people and loving it! I just wanted to check in before I am gone again... I am not leaving town, but I will be in town!

This weekend is our annual Fall Festival of Leaves and not only will I be super busy there (I am a bit involved), I've got shoots everyday. Our regular blog posting will continue on Monday...

(matt, this post is for you :)Saturday was my first time ever at an Ohio State Football game! Now, I have been to the stadium before...but only on the field for pictures :)
Justin, his parents & I went up to see a field goal exposition against Purdue...if you saw the game you know what I mean. It was an experience...and I learned a lot. For instance, just because it is chilly at home does not mean that it will be in the stands...so even if all you have is a long sleeve black Buckeye's shirt...you're better off finding something else. It was warm, but I had fun. By far the best part was the halftime show...and I am not just saying that...I usually hate halftime shows (and yes I know who I am married to...but I still think it is the time to get more popcorn). The band was incredible, they really are The Best Darn Band in the Land (yes I am censoring...it's my blog!). I tried to find a video of the show online but couldn't (well here is one, but you have to listen to the girls and it is a bad angle: click here). The did a tribute to TV Land, and it was remarkable! Really, I was very impressed! My favorite was when they did Gilligan's Island and actually became a boat & an island with a palm tree, then their boat ran aground on the island...really, you just have to see it! Here are a few pictures from the day...The crew:It was a packed house!Ok, now, for the best part. Notice in this picture how the sun has just gone behind the stadium... Well, when we sat down I said that "I bet the sun will be down with 3 mins left in the game" (being sarcastic...praying it would be much sooner) Well...I was pretty darn close! Justin said he would give me a minute & a half either way...now look closely...4:29 - Score!It was a great day and I had a lot of fun! Thanks to Jerry & Lou Ann for taking us!

Photo shoots have been in full swing here at Cassidy Dawn, and I am working really hard to keep up and keep you all updated.
Jimmy had some great ideas for his senior pictures, and a couple great locations picked out. He was so easy to photograph...a natural! We had tons of great images, but I restrained myself and just picked out a few...I could have posted all of them!

I finally had a shoot at my house and loved how the shots turned out...I had to share a couple of those. In the evening we have the most amazing light filtering in and Jimmy's shoot was at the perfect time to catch it...needless to say, I was so excited!This was one of Jimmy's locations...I loved the colors we had!

I love senior shoots...they are so much fun and the seniors are usually up for anything (we even had Jimmy in a tree...a very big tree)! Thanks again Jimmy for a great shoot!

Tonight my dad and I went flying, I have been wanting to go up for a while and do some more aerials and see the leaves for a little higher perspective. It was the perfect night for flying...so smooth and a gorgeous sunset! Here are a few of my favorites:

I was thrilled when I got an email from Laura about photographing her wedding, even more than usual. Last January I was honored to fly down to Naples, Florida and second shoot a wedding with some amazing photographers (and great friends) Sam & Ashley Brockinton. Ashley was very pregnant at the time and they needed an extra hand. We photographed a wedding for Jackie & Rob - Laura's sister. Needless to say I was so excited to get the chance to see their wonderful (and I mean wonderful) family again, and I was honored that they chose me. Be prepared for a little blog photo overload...I just love reliving that day! Here are a few of my favorites: The shot on the right was taking by my amazing second shooter. He offically has that name now, because he completely outdid himself at this wedding - I was blown away by some of his images.

I am ending this post with this lady because she is remarkable! This is Laura's Grandma, and boy did she like to dance. I remember her from Jackie's wedding, and she didn't disappoint here. She was on the dance floor for almost every song, really...she was there till the very end! I love Grandma's that can dance, how cute is she!!!

Ok, so I know I don't have room to say much, but anniversaries rock! Yesterday for our first year anniversary we went ziplining for over 2 hours at Hocking Hills with Hocking Hills Canopy Tours. We had soo much fun! We couldn't take many pictures - you basically go from one platform to another...so it wasn't the first thing in our mind, but we managed to get a few...Justin even got a little video of me. I actually edited the video, he really filmed his ride, but trust me, you'll be glad I edited it - for starters, the camera was sideways because he had to let it hang. Anyway, here are a few pictures from our trip. By the way, we completely recommend this to everyone! Really, anyone can do it...when we arrived there was a group of 3 or 4 ladies in their 70's that had just gone. ***disclaimer - I am not saying that is old - just saying that it's for all ages! Ok, back to the photos. Meet Adam & Jonathon...are awesome guides!Here we go:

I've had a couple of emails on the picture arrangement I previously posted...well, I was prepared! I actually took pictures of the process to blog, because I think it makes it so much easier on you and the walls. If you simply trace around your frames on paper then tape them to the wall, you can move them around until you know where you want them exactly! Trust me, it makes the entire process much easier.
* I even put thumbnail images on the paper so I could decide what image went next to each other...but that is a minor detail that is really not necessary.

I think it is so important to surround yourself with good thoughts and memories...a good way to do this - photos! I think it's so great to have photos everywhere, surprise, surprise :)
I just got some of my wedding photos printed for a big wall arrangement I have been aching to do for soo long, so I thought I would give you a peak inside our house full of photos. It's *so* great to be in a house where we can hang things on the wall...I am such a happy girl!

*no judging the wall paper...not my choice! it may be gone come spring ;)
Every time I walk by this wall I smile...I love my wedding photographs (photography by the fabulous Melanie Mauer).A few 8x10's weren't going to cut it on this mantle in the bedroom...I found these great frames in Kmart (remember that story) for just $10! I knew all along with photo would be in it...I love how it turned out! Moral of the story, don't be afraid to print your photos. The bigger the better, and how great is a big collection on one wall?! Love it!

Michael is from Minnesota and while he was in town a few weeks ago to visit family, we met up to do his senior photos. It was a great shoot, with great light...and not to mention a killer location in right in Bainbridge! He was so easy to photograph and i think they turned out great. I did feel so bad though, right when we got to our second location he was stung right under the eye...really, on the eyelash part...it was awful! Although it didn't really phase him, we did have to speed it up do to some swelling! Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

I have been working on a new blog for quite a while now, and although there are a few more things I want to change, I had to switch now. I couldn't take my old look much longer! I think this suits Cassidy Dawn Photography much better! There are a few things different. For instance, the archive, bio & info are now at the bottom of the page. Eventually, there will also be a 'labels' section so that it will be easier to find particular posts...that will come soon. There are also important links at the top for the Website, Slideshows, and Proofs!
I just needed a cleaner look...something that focuses on the photos, and I love it!

Like I said, a few things on it will be changing, but I am happy to have a new look in place! Next up: Website!

Apologies for the lack of posting.
As you may have noticed I have been in Bardstown, Ky off and on for the past two weeks, well I am back and expected to be back to blogging...however, Ike (the storm) has had a different plan. We had such strong winds the other day that it knocked our power out. I think most of Ross County is back on, but sometimes there is a price to pay for living out in the boonies (like we love). Hopefully we will have it back soon, but for now I am bouncing around on a laptop trying to keep up with everyone, so if I haven't returned emails or calls, please know I am trying!
Although I haven't been updating here, trust me, there is lots of updating going on elsewhere! Cassidy Dawn Photography has some exciting things in store, including a fresh look to the blog & website, and maybe a few more things! It may be a while, but it's coming, promise ;)

I have been blessed with the people in my life. I have always been surrounded by the 'best of the best' when it comes to family, friends & mentors. A particular person in my life taught me so much about being grateful. It wasn't all from the conversations we had (we had many), but it came from watching how she lived her life and how she handled everyday things. She was always thankful, thankful for everything. I've been thinking a lot lately about the people in my life and I decided it was time for me to focus on the many things they have taught me, whether they know it or not.
Every month I am going to take one person that has made a difference in my life and think about them everyday. Every time I think of something I have learned from them, something that has resulted because of them...or frankly, any good thoughts I will write them down and at the end of the month they will have a letter from me thanking them for being in my life and letting them know what an impact they have had on me.
I am not posting this to 'toot' my own horn, it is simply one thing that I think could make this world a little more peaceful...can't everyone use a little smile, whether it comes from thinking about someone or from receiving a letter.

Smiles are good, we need more of them.

Today Justin and I joined up with my cousin Lindsay and our friends Kara & Seth and went to King's Island! I have been wanting to go since our last trip over 5 years ago...it didn't disappoint, actually it was one of the most fun days I've had in a while! Not only were we with great people, it was "GE" day (Seth works for GE) so we went when the park opened and had hardly any lines! By the time we were leaving it was getting a little more crowded, but our longest & only wait time was no more than 15 mins! *and it was for my favorite ride, so it was worth it!
I snapped a few pictures...while we weren't upside down :)

We decided to go on the White Water Adventure right before we left. Knowing that we had over a good hour to ride home, I was not really looking forward to getting wet. As we walked the long walk back, some people were dry, and some soaked. Kara really, really wanted to get soaked...I did not.
Well, of course you can guess what happened. Kara was wet enough that she was dry half way through the park...I was still quite wet when we arrived home hours later (we made a few stops too). Oh well, at least it felt good for a couple minutes :)

Have you ever had one of those weekends that forces a huge smile on your face for the entire time? One of those weekends that you wish you could put in your pocket and pull out to experience over and over again? Simply put, an amazing weekend?

I have, and I did this weekend. We photographed a *stunning* wedding with absolutely wonderful people this past weekend, and I can't wait to share the images with you! Here's to having more of "those weekends" more often.

What a shoot! Really, as I got in the car after we had finished, I took a deep breath and just smiled at Justin. I am so thankful that such wonderful people allow me to photograph their families, and children, and weddings. I am so very blessed.

This was my second time photographing at The Ohio State University and we thought it would be appropriate since many of them went to school there, and a few of them work there! I was thrilled with the locations that we were using...everything was so beautiful. At the end we headed to the stadium to do a few shots outside. Little did I know, we where about to finish off the shoot with a rare opportunity...and into the stadium we went! We had the whole place to ourselves (a big thank you to the man at the gate), and I was thrilled!

The shoot was a gift for the mother, what a sweet idea. Thank you for not only wanting to document your family, but for allowing me to photograph. It was an honor.

Happy 1st Day of School to anyone that involves! I don't know if I officially announced on the blog where Justin is teaching this year. He is now teaching at his Alma mater, Adena High School! This year he is teaching Sophomore English II, and a class that involves Journalism, Creative Writing, Speech & Reading. He's on an amazing staff and is really looking forward to the year!
Most would think that only new mothers take photos of their child on their first day of school.....not here! Here is Justin on his first day of school, he's so cute :)

We are finally online here at CDP! I am *so* happy to have the internet back, really, you have no idea... Things have been super busy, but I wanted to take a break and show you a beautiful canvas that arrived this past week. This canvas is 20 x 40 (huge!) and I was so happy with how it turned out:

As you may have caught on, we moved today! However silly Horizon (internet folks) said they can't come for over an entire week!!! I know, crazy! The Direct TV folks can come next day (at least we'll have the Olympics)...oh well, so I will be bouncing around in different locations checking email and such, but I can't guarantee any great blog posts until at least next Wednesday. I hate to do it, but unfortunately I don't have the capabilities to hook it up myself (trust me, I would if I could :)

So keep checking back, I may surprise you, and if any of you Horizon folks can speed this process along I will be your very best friend.

Justin & I went for an evening walk last night to enjoy the weather. I wanted to take a few more photos, because we are attempting to move into the farmhouse today, so it was potentially our last night at Swartz Farm...

My mom is awesome! We were unpacking at "the farmhouse" and working on putting a few things out and while dad was mowing the yard for us (no mower yet...), I put her on the task of a arranging a built-in-bookcase (because I knew I wouldn't get it how I wanted it, and she is so good at those things). So she had a few of our books and some special pieces that are important to us and went to town! We love it, thanks Mom!!!

This past week I photographed my cousin Breanna. Breanna was named Queen of the Fall Festival of Leaves last fall (our hometown festival). No one deserved it more (and I am not just saying that because I'm biased). She is a hometown girl who is talented, caring, has a heart of gold, and of course - Beautiful! I am so proud of everything she's done this far, and I know she has lots more to do. Bre leaves for college in less than two weeks for her Freshman year at Liberty University where she will study Nursing. I've always said that God put a special heart in Teachers & Nurses, and Bre definitely has one of those!

I love you Breanna, and thank you so much for allowing me to photograph you once again!

I found this on Etsy (one of my favorite places to be online!) and love it! The poster was hung around England during WWII to remind people to keep calm in such a hectic time. I think it is a great reminder even today.

If you read my little ole' blog much you know that Justin & I our house sitting this summer. Well, this week we were able to get into our new place (for when we are done here) to see what we need to do and start moving things in. Our landlord put down all new carpet, so while Justin was vacuuming, I thought I would attack the kitchen. The kitchen has pink counter tops, and green walls...I know, right? Well, luckily he doesn't mind if we paint, actually he prefers it for that room :) So I had matched up a color that I thought would work with the cabinets and tone down the counters a bit. Then later I started to clean...I sprayed just a little bit of Clorox on the cabinets and was astonished at what I saw...needless to say, I need to pick a new color! I thought I would eventually need to repaint them, who knew that a little Clorox could do this! Here is a picture of our farmhouse...we really love it, I have so many plans for decorating :)

Guess who's one???

Cash is!

So in honor of this, I've decided to show many, many photos for this post...well, partly for that reason, and partly because I also couldn't decide which ones to show...and truth be told, there are sooo many more! I absolutely loved this shoot, perfect day, perfect location, and an unbelievable family!
This shoot was to mark Cash's 1st birthday, take business photos for Todd, and a few family shots...well I think I went overboard on the last one...I couldn't stop! They are such a great family and I hope they can treasure these photographs for a very long time. Because of the overload of photos I want to share, I am spreading them out...today is Cash, tomorrow the family, and the next day I'll post the slideshow (and some exciting news about slideshows!) a silver lining

It's strange how things work out sometimes...especially when you didn't see it coming.

Some of you may know that my twin sister, Whitney, moved away after she got married. Damon got a job in Indiana, and so they have moved 6 hours away. I was definitly not happy about the situation, but I had been prepared and knew it was coming...there was simply nothing I could do about it. So the weekend before we moved back to Ohio, I took my sister's little purple car six hours away so that she could start her new married life.
The next weekend Justin & I moved back to Ohio, and it was a glorious time (we had been waiting to offically do that for 5 years!) Kentucky is great, and the people are fabulous, but there is nothing like your home, and my heart is and will always be in Southern Ohio...trust me folks...it's better than we give it credit! We were back and enjoying life at home when more news hit. Apparently Indiana is the place to be because my older sister, Chelsea, announced she and her husband Matt would be moving, too. However there wasn't as much time for easing into this one for me. Matt was offered an amazing job and couldn't turn it down. He moves on Sunday (Chelsea will follow soon). I had about a month to adjust to the situation...but frankly, I was so excited to come home, and now my best friends are moving away. I mean come on...Indiana!
Anyway, today I found a silver lining. Besides the fact that I know they will be back (you will be coming back!), they really are still really close. I don't mean distance (I know to some that 6 hours & 3 hours isn't far...but give me a break...I just got back! It is going to be much harder for impromptu Chinese nights!). Today Justin and I were having a debate about another random conversation. To prove I was right (like always) I knew just who would know the answer. Whitney. So I called her up and my answer was confirmed...of course. So even though my sisters are leaving, I know that I can still find out the answer to my oh so random thoughts.
So thank you Whitney for knowing that 'Hanging with Mr. Cooper' took place in Oakland, CA, and and thank you in advance to Chelsea for answering my hypochondriac type questions.
I love you both and can't wait till you are home again.

You have to see this video! I was working on few things on my laptop and noticed a speck on my screen, so I tried to wipe it off...it didn't come off. Then it started to move! It was obviously a bug, not just some computer thing, but an actual bug in the screen. I had open an email and it was moving under the letters! I know this is hard to believe, so I took a video for those that need proof. I know from the video it just looks like a moving speck, but I promise, if you had seen it, you'd agree. I had a bug in my screen.

What an amazing shoot! Lindsay & Brian took me to Miami University to take their engagement photographs. Lindsay has just graduated and Brian will be soon, and I loved seeing their favorite spots and hearing about the campus.
I wanted to share a few more of my favorites and include a slideshow of the images - hope you enjoy it!

Miami has a beautiful archway and it is said that if you kiss under it at midnight, you will marry that person (or something like that). This is where Brian proposed to her...how sweet is that!!!
Lindsay & Brian, thank you soo much for such a fun shoot, I can't wait for the wedding next year!!!

I was so excited when I stumbled on this site, I just had to share it with you all! Top Secret Recipes is a site with recipes of some of the yummy dishes at many popular restaurants! Sadly you do have to pay for the recipes, but to be honest, if you love the sweet potato chips at Cheeseburger and Paradise as much as I do...$0.79 is not bad!

Some of my favorite restaurants that they have are: Bonefish Grill, Buca Di Beppo, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Cheesecake Factory, Joe's Crab Shack, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, P.H. Changs, Red Lobster, Red Robin and Ruby Tuesday...these are just a few, there are tons more!

I decided early on that since Justin and I were so blessed to house sit such an amazing house, I would take advantage of what it could mean to me photographically. I've been shooting the land almost every night and I wanted to share a few of my favorites from the past few days. What a wedding. Whitney and Damon were married on May 31, 2008. It was a long time coming, but at the end of the day, my parents had offically married off their last Hall girl! And yes, we all were married within one year of each other!

The wedding was beautiful, and it was a perfect reflection of their style and love for each other. I was honored to not only be co-matron of honor, but also the photographer...crazy right?! Well, I thought, I've done it before, and wont have to do it again...so why not?! Honestly I was honored that they wanted me to be such a part of their wedding. Congratulations to my amazing twin sister for finding the perfect man for her. You two are so wonderful together!

*and yes, I am so glad that I won't be photographing another wedding while wearing a bridesmaid's dress - believe it or not, it's even harder than you may think ;)Only Whitney would play Guitar Hero on her wedding day! She's *really* good at it!

Justin and I are house sitting for a couple months at an amazing house with a beautiful property and as we where walking back from visiting the horses last night these stunning clouds headed our way. We never had rain, but it was quite a sight!

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing one of my very favorite artists, Ken Swinson (check out his website/blog). Justin & I are currently obsessed with his work and it was so great to see his studio and the paintings he had been working on. I gave Justin one of his prints of Maysville for his birthday and our "we want this" list is growing really, really long! It was such a fun shoot and I wanted to share a few of my favorites.

The painting in the left image is a view of the rowhouses Justin & I lived in while in Maysville! It's still in progress, but we definitly plan to add it to our collection when it's finished.

Well, I guess it is about time I post this.
Cassidy Dawn Photography will offically be based out of Chillicothe, Ohio as of this Saturday! I know what you're thinking...you've always been based out of Chillicothe, Ohio. While this is partially true, the other side of it is that we actually live in Maysville, Kentucky.
As much as we love Maysville, our goal has always been to move back to Ross County, it really is where are hearts are. So as of Saturday, we will be local once again. :)
So if you have noticed a string of strange and irregular posts on the blog, you can fully expect them for a few more days. The packing it taking it toll. Everything we have will actually be in storage for about 2 months while we are house sitting for some very dear friends, so we have to be over the top organized with everything that is packed; however, I do promise to get this blog back to some type of normalcy eventually, just hang tight.

I've had a ton of inquires for summer portraits start to pour in, so if you are thinking you'd like some and haven't emailed yet, please let me know. I'd love to get you on the calender!

This post is simply to say happy birthday to my amazing husband. Justin turned the big 23 today and we went to Cincinnati to celebrate. We had dinner at P.F. Changs, and went to check out the soon to be newest member of the Drummond family, she's beautiful and we shall call her Stella. All joking aside, we are so so excited to make the change!

Justin didn't want me to make a cake because we've already packed up what I needed (more on that soon...) and all he wanted was ice cream. His favorite is swirl, but they have been out for a while, so vanilla it was:
Now, time for Lost.
My parents got Justin Season 1 of Lost for his birthday and now he is insisting on watching it every night to catch me up (I'm a bit behind), so I'd better start paying attention!

She's stunning, isn't she? I was absolutely thrilled when Heidi asked me to photograph her wedding. I've known this family for quite a while, and there are two solid facts I've always known about them. They are as sweet as can be, and they have style! Needless to say, I was very excited!

Heidi & Nathan had a *beautiful* wedding on May 3rd. It was just the right mix of class, sophistication, and down home fun! I love relaxed weddings where you can really have a wonderful time with everyone there. Everyone had the best time.
I wanted to share a few of the images from the day, but stay tuned over the next few days and you'll be treated to a sneak peak of one of our newest product offerings - custom slideshows!
